Basel is a city on the Rhine River in the northwest of Switzerland, The city is a beautiful destination itself and also has many tourist attractions which attract a large number of tourists every year and every season to visit Basel. One of the most visited tourist places near Basel is Interlaken, Interlaken is nearly a 2 hours train journey from basel. Its famous for its Excursion to Mt. Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. There are two ways to reach Mt. Jungfraujoch, from Interlaken Ost the train takes you via Grindelwald or Wengen to the KleineScheidegg, Then the Jungfrau Railway takes you up to the Jungfraujoch – at 11’333 ft the highest railway station in Europe. Such tourist places near Basel are the must and best part of any package. One also get a chance to view the breathtaking views of Aletch Arena, the longest glacier in the Alps.
Lucerne
Another destination is other than Interlaken which holds an inseparable place in Switzerland tour packages designed by Eurocursions. Arrival in Interlaken by train 2nd class from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport. Overnight in Interlaken
Excursion from Interlaken up to the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. Rail journey over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne. Rest of the day at leisure for sightseeing or excursions. Overnight in Lucerne.
Lake Lucerne cruise from Lucerne to Alpnachstad, then up to the Pilatus Kulm 2132 m by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world (from app. mid May to November, during winter you take the bus from Lucerne to Kriens and further with the panorama gondolas from Kriens up to the summit on Pilatus Kulm. Time at leisure. Overnight in Lucerne.
Return to Swiss border or airport or individual onward journey.
